52nd International Ski Congress was held on June 4th. Due to the pandemic, the conference was held online.
At 52nd International Ski Congress, representatives of federations from different countries elected a new president of FIS. Along with the representatives of other countries, the representatives of Georgian Ski Federation also participated in voting procedure. Johan Eliasch will be the new FIS President instead of outgoing President Gian Franco Kasper.
Johan Eliasch was elected as the new FIS President after just one round of voting with 65 votes (54.82%).
“I’m incredibly humbled to be chosen as your president. I would especially like to express my gratitude to Gian Franco Kasper, whom I have known for many years. We would not all be sitting here today if it wasn’t for him“
In addition to the Presidential election, the Congress also elected the 16-member Council. Members chosen on 4th of June will serve a term through the next International Ski Congress, which will take place in late Spring 2022.
