GSF & FIS
In 2023, Georgia (Bakuriani) (FIS) will host the Ski and Snowboarding Freestyle World Championships.
It was decided by a vote at the International Ski Federation Congress in Greece in the spring of 2018 that the 2023 Freestyle World Championships would be held in Bakuriani. It should be noted that Georgia will now be one of the 14 countries in which the Freestyle World Championships have been held.
This success comes as the result of the combined efforts of the Georgian government, the Georgian Ski Federation, and the Mountain Resorts Development Company over many years of work. Georgia officially requested that the World Championships be held in Bakuriani in 2017. However, before the vote qualifying races for ski cross were held in Bakuriani under the auspices of the International Ski Federation (FIS), which were judged a success by foreign experts.
Georgia is now required to host races of every discipline in the European and World Freestyle Cup before 2023. In March of 2019 Gudauri hosted races for the (FIS) Snowboard and Ski Cross European Cup. 150 athletes from 15 countries took part in the competitions.
World Cup races for the (FIS) snowboard parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom will be held in Bakuriani in 2020.
