Less and less time left till the biggest event of this winter season and Bakuriani will soon host Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski World Championships. The event will take place from 16th of February till 5th of March. Preparations for World championships started 5 years ago and now they’re getting to the final phase. From next month Georgia will be in the center of attention of the world.
Around 700 athletes got registered for the event. In terms of World Championships Georgia will host about 3000 guests from around the world. Starting from February Georgia will receive unprecedented amount of guests from the world.
World Championship is the most prestigious event for winter sports lovers, top athletes from different countries will test the slopes of historical resort Bakuriani during the event. Qualifications and Finals of the races will be produced live on Eurosport in over 60 countries of the world.
In past few years Bakuriani successfully hosted FIS test events in different disciplines, which was a prerequisite before this immense event. On all of these events Georgian Organizing Committee received positive feedback from international consultants.
Important infrastructural projects have been implemented in Bakuriani in terms of the World Championship. 6 new ski courses, 3 ski lifts, 29-kilometer-long artificial snowmaking system and 2 artificial lakes we prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia in Didveli, Kokhta and Mitarbi area.
The event dedicated to the opening of the championship will be held in Bakuriani on February 18. Various entertainment and spectacular events will be organized in the village which will be accessible for all guests. As for the closing ceremony Bakuriani will host an event of 5th of March.
